Amir Nasr-Azadani, the Iranian footballer has been sentenced to 16 years in prison due to partaking in “enmity against God”.  

These charges were in relation to the killing of three security officers in the city of Isfahan on 16th November. 

Local news has stated that his statement was coerced and family members of his were ordered to stay silent.  

Three other protestors were sentenced to death in the same trial.  

The protests initially broke out after the killing of Masha Amini, a 22-year-old who was arrested by the Iranian Morality Police for allegedly violating the Islamic Republic’s strict dress codes.  

These are preliminary rulings that can be appealed in the supreme court.
