Glen Henderson announced last night that he was selling York City and was in negotiations with the York City Trust in order to reach a deal for the fans to purchase his shares.

In his statement Henderson announced plans to sell the club publicly for the first time after just 7 months of ownership.

He stated: “I’m very much aware of the recent rumours around the Club, and whilst I appreciate that many fans have made their decisions about me, I feel it is appropriate to remain open about my ongoing involvement, and to ensure that fans are fully aware that I have agreed to sell my shares which I don’t believe has previously been made public.”

Henderson revealed that the Trust had be working to find the funds to purchase the club but had not yet found the funds stating: “I am told this has not come to fruition at this stage, but I confirm my commitment to keep working together with the Trust.”

The Trust have until the 4th of April to attempt to find the funds otherwise Glen Henderson will open the club up to all potential buyers and thus allowing anyone to purchase his 51% share in the club. He said: “I have offered to continue to provide resources to ensure stability, and am not looking to profit in any way, but can confirm this has not been accepted due to the ongoing purchase negotiations, so my hands are tied until 4th April. Following this date, I would then have the option to offer the shares to the open market.”

Henderson finally urged fans to back the team for the time being finishing his statement by saying: “Please continue to show your support for Mikey and the team.”
