Graham Potter is under pressure at Chelsea but still retains the backing of the board despite negative results in recent games. A 4-0 loss to Manchester City at the weekend appeared to be the end as far as some fans were to believe but he appears to be staying for now

Q Why hasn’t he been sacked?

A Well he still retains the backing of the Chelsea board. He’s been in charge since September and has had a very bizarre schedule obviously with a winter world cup a lot of games came at once and that resulted in a lot of injuries for Chelsea so I don’t think he’s had that much time so far.

Q Given recent performances is the fan backlash warranted?

A I suppose in a way it is especially with the Thomas Tuchel chants as Boehly came in and let Tuchel go which in my opinion was a bizarre decision with Tuchel having won the Champions League in 2021 and he wasn’t having that bad of a season but to go back to the original question the results aren’t coming but the fans need to understand the difficult position they’re in with injuries.

Q How much longer do you think he will last?

A If he makes the right signings this January then I won’t be able to put a timeframe on it. With Badashile and Fofana coming in now to help out their defensive and attacking options and with other targets being talked about such as Enzo Fernandez and Marcus Thuram Chelsea will end the window in a much stronger position than what they started in so I think Potter should make it until at the very least the end of the season.
