Ahead of the Knights derby against West Bowling this weekend Andrew Henderson has distanced himself from the vacant Castleford Tigers job.

The York boss also confirmed that both Matty Marsh and Ukuma Ta’ai will both be available for the weekends game.

He also stated in his pre-match conference that this is an “opportunity for those who maybe haven’t enjoyed as many minutes recently” and for “blooding youngsters” rather than “risking those who aren’t 100%.”

West Bowling currently play in the National Conference League Division One and last weekend opened their season with a 66-8 against Crossfields on Saturday and come into Sunday’s game top of their division.

Meanwhile the Knights come into the game on the back of a 40-0 win away at Swinton, their first result to nil since 2019 and currently sit fifth in the Championship with three wins and two loses in their opening five games.

Henderson appeared to distance himself from the rumour of him joining Super League side Castleford as he said “No, no. Not at all.

“I made sure I actually reassured the owner the other day actually, just because I know a lot of speculation can come out of paper talk and people can start saying whatever they like and start rumours.

“So I just made it very clear to Clint [Goodchild, owner] the other day, don’t read into anything.”

The game kicks off at 3pm on Sunday at the LNER community stadium and tickets are priced at £10 for adults; £7 for concessions and free for anyone aged 16 or under.
