A surreal touch on the deep impact death can have on all.

Sage Mears delivers a superb masterpiece that pulls on the heartstrings of all watching, yet using a light-hearted tone throughout.

The theme of death is hidden right throughout and I think these subtle hints such as the exploding pen and the bath of ice truly show how well-thought out the film truly is.

My question going in to this film would 12 minutes be enough to get across the main theme of a film, and also play upon my emotions?

The reassuring answer was yes, emotions spent this tearjerker of a short film was astonishing in the way they hide the underlying theme of death behind a comic undertone of a highly unprofessional job interview.

Mears attempts to initially hide what is happening and whose “position” Max is replacing but when it becomes clear you realise Brigette is seeking those who can replace her life and make her heart go far.

The end when we leave their head and come back into the light of the real world, the underlying tone of how one’s life can be impacted by another so much really provokes a reaction out of the most stone-faced individuals.
