University lectures staged a national strike across 150 universities this week. (Shot of sign including university YSJ) 

Teaching sessions were cancelled and students were forced to work from home alone.  

Academics and support staff want a 12% payrise, zero hour contracts and action to tackle their excessive workload.  

Meetings are due between unions and government officials as for now university lecturers will continue to work their contracted hours.  

Students will now wait and see if further action will take part on campus.
