Record breaking is always a taboo subject in sports. Like the yips, even mentioning a record breaking run seems to ruin a players form however I’m going to chance that here as I touch on a record Alexander Isak is closing on. It’s that of Jamie Vardy who scored in eleven consecutive games (including against Newcastle) in the 2015-16 season, where Leicester famously clinched the Premier League title.

Isak currently sits at seven Premier League games that he has consecutively scored in, and with our next five being Wolves (17th), Bournemouth (7th), Southampton (20th), Fulham (9th) and Manchester City (6th) they are all against sides that sit below us.

With the fine vein of form our Swedish centre forward is in I see no reason why that doesn’t continue, having said that against Fulham earlier this season we played poorly, we also drew with Bournemouth and City and narrowly beat Wolves and Southampton (thanks to play acting from a Chilean striker) so based on previous results should they go that way it could still be a record breaking run, with us scoring in all of the previous fixtures against those five teams!

Currently Isak has nine goals from his seven consecutive games which began in our topsy turvy 3-3 draw with Liverpool, before Isak scored in our disappointing 4-2 defeat to Brentford and has then scored in all five of our consecutive Premier league victories, scoring once in a 4-0 win against Leicester, his first Toon hat trick in the 4-0 win over Ipswich, once against Villa as we won 3-0, once against Manchester Reds as we beat them 2-0 at Old Trafford, before scoring against Spurs in the 2-1 win in North London.

What do we think Geordies? Will Alexander Isak beat one of the Premier Leagues hardest records to break or will Jamie Vardy hold onto it?
